Independent software company

The physical economy still runs on paper. We're changing that.

Batsford Systems builds the system of record for businesses that move, weigh and file things for a living — dispatch boards, weight tickets, container logs, permit reports. Software that respects the people who run the yard.

What we build

Operational software for industries the tech world skipped.

Waste and recycling, haulage, aggregates, scrap — sectors that run on schedules, scales and carbon-copy forms, and were left with clipboards and a decade-old ERP nobody likes. We build the tool that replaces both.

End to end

One system, not seven

The request, the dispatch, the weight, the invoice line — one record the whole way through. No re-keying between a scheduling app, a spreadsheet and the accountant.

Works offline

Built for the cab, not the office

Drivers are in dead zones half the day. Every action is saved on the device first and synced second — stamped with the time it happened, safe to retry.

Domain first

Made with the people who use it

Gross tons versus short tons, demo loads, direct-to-landfill, permit categories — the rules of the trade are in the software because we built it next to the operators.

Compliance

The filing writes itself

When every material is entered against a regulated category, the annual permit reports come straight out of the day-to-day data — no year-end reconciliation scramble.

No lock-in

Your data stays yours

Runs on your own machine and your own database. Backups capture schema and data together, so a snapshot can stand a fresh system back up on its own.

Shipping weekly

Small company, fast turns

Founder-led and close to the ground. A fix reported in the morning is often deployed by the afternoon — the whole customer base upgrades at once.

Company
Batsford Systems

Jordan Batsford started Batsford Systems at 22, after building what became Tally for a working container and recycling business and watching it take over the day-to-day running of the place.

The pattern turned out to be everywhere: a capable operation held together by a whiteboard, a stack of duplicate forms and one person who knows how the software really works. The off-the-shelf options were either a toy or an enterprise suite priced and shaped for a company ten times the size.

So the company does one thing — sit with an operator, learn the trade properly, and build the system of record they should have had all along. Jordan still writes the code and still does the site visits.
